The Dragon of Ynys: A Book Review

Advertised as a fairytale for all ages, The Dragon of Ynys by Minerva Cerridwen is a quick and easy read that was nothing short of fantastical. The story follows the adventure of Sir Violet, the designated “knight” of Ynys, a small town isolated by a series of mountain peaks, Holly, the baker’s wife, and Yny’s resident dragon, Snap, as they search for the town’s baker who mysteriously disappeared in the night. The Dragon of Ynys is full of witty banter that I just adore as they traverse the cozy writing of the world of Ynys. Despite the playful dialouge between characters, the novel still leaves room for more heartfelt and important conversations, leaving the story as a both a exciting fairytale for the whole family and a beautiful example of queer representation that’s fully digestible in its fairytale format. From cover to cover with its diverse characters and lovely message, The Dragon of Ynys was a joy to read. This was a shorter blog post for a shorter book. If you’re ...

The Greatest Estate Developer: A Review

The first time I saw this webcomic on Webtoons (a popular manga/comic app), it appeared in the form of a reading challenge: reading 20 episodes to get 7 coins. Since I wanted the coins to unlock chapters in other comics, I decided to read it. However, as I read more and more, I became so absorbed by Suho Kim’s (or rather Master Lloyd’s) personality and funny facial expressions that I continued reading past the 20 chapters. The plot goes like this: Suho Kim, a civil engineering student in Korea, gets transmigrated into a fantasy novel he was reading before falling asleep. He wakes up in the body of Lloyd Frontera, who not only is an alcoholic, but his family has so much debt piled up despite the fact that they are nobles! Suho’s only goal after waking up as Lloyd was to become a crazy rich, lazy bum who spent the rest of his days work-free. However, he must first get rid of his family’s debt, which seemed pretty much impossible. However, using his knowledge as a civil engineering stud...

Book Review: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart is the perfect mystery for those who enjoy books that will keep them hooked until the very end. It took me a while to get into the story in the beginning, but I finished it and found it to be worth the read. It is a combination of mystery, family secrets, and a touch of romance.  The story revolves around a girl named Cadence Sinclair who comes from a very privileged wealthy family. She spends her summer on a private island owned by her grandfather, Harris Sinclair, who has control over the power and privilege that comes with wealth. Her two aunts, Carrie and Bessie along with her cousins all meet on the island during the summer. She spends her days with her cousins Mirren and Johnny along with Gat who is Carrie’s boyfriends nephew. Gat is indian and he has been coming to the island for a few years now. This allows the four to have a very close-knit bond with each other. But over the years, Gat and Cadence’s relationship grows deeper, lead...

And Then There Were None book review Just a few years ago, I read my first murder mystery, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder , and really enjoyed it. Since then, I have become a lover of any type of murder mystery so when I was recommended the book And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie I wanted to read it. So now I will give my honest opinion on Agatha Christie’s A nd Then There Were None . The book opens with ten people who were invited to an island by someone claiming to be a person each one of them knows. None of them know each other and, upon further inspection, the person inviting them is different for each and every person. Their host isn’t there to greet them either, only two servants who were sent to the island a week earlier, by an unknown employer. However, when they sit down for dinner, a strange message is played on the gramophone and shortly afterwards, one of them is found dead. Now nine people must find out who is the murder and get off the island before it is t...
